In Edo, where Gintoki and the Yorozuya reside, order is maintained by the Shinsengumi. Toshiro Hijikata, known as the "Demon Vice-Commander," has long led the Shinsengumi with strict discipline. Kamotaro comes back bearing the latest weapons and prized swords as souvenirs, receiving a grand welcome from Commander Kondo.
