Since losing his child, Sakuzo, who was renowned as a skilled fisherman, has been drowning himself in alcohol every day. His wife, Teruko, urges Sakuzo, who drinks from early in the morning, to go out fishing, but the argument continues... Feeling guilty, Sakuzo heads to the harbor, where he finds an old jar buried in the sand.
