The Welcome is a life-affirming collection of short films sharing stories that will transport you across countries, borders and oceans. Hear fresh voices and emerging Queensland artists from diverse backgrounds tell honest and authentic stories about migrant and refugee experiences and what it means to belong in Australia. The Welcome is an extension of La Boite’s critically acclaimed 2020 stage production, The Neighbourhood. This intimate storytelling experience was created by La Boite with Brisbane-based production company KIOSK and proudly supported by the Commonwealth Bank and Queensland Government. The Welcome screens across multiple digital platforms, in recognition and celebration of Queensland’s diverse communities.

Happy is a 2011 feature documentary film directed, written, and co-produced by Roko Belic. It explores human happiness through interviews with people from all walks of life in 14 different countries, weaving in the newest findings of positive psychology. Director Roko Belic was originally inspired to create the film after producer/director Tom Shadyac (Liar, Liar, Patch Adams, Bruce Almighty) showed him an article in the New York Times entitled "A New Measure of Well Being From a Happy Little Kingdom". The article ranks the United States as the 23rd happiest country in the world. Shadyac then suggested that Belic make a documentary about happiness. Belic spent several years interviewing over 20 people, ranging from leading happiness researchers to a rickshaw driver in Kolkatta, a family living in a "co-housing community" in Denmark, a woman who was run over by a truck, a Cajun fisherman, and more.

The story puts İlhan Çomak at the center, even though he is not physically present in the film. It focuses on the 21 years that İlhan spent in prison and his family’s experience of those years without him. The narrative is constructed through the letters İlhan wrote and aims to describe his life, his emotions and longings. The film constructs İlhan’s history through a chronology in the prison but refrains from restricting it only to a “prisoner’s quest for justice”, and rather tells a story of the situations he finds himself in over the years and his emotions and their equivalents in life.
