The Children

Tense three-part drama starring Kevin Whately and Lesley Sharp. When the body of an eight-year-old girl is discovered in a garden, the chain of events leading up to her death begin to emerge. Six months earlier, and three couples embark on exciting new relationships, blissfully unaware of the tragic consequences.

The police investigate Emily's death, while flashbacks show how her behaviour grew ever more erratic in the time leading up to her murder. A series of revelations about the eight-year-old girl reveal how she drove her family to despair by abducting her baby sister and making thinly veiled accusations of abuse against step brother Jack.

Emily's accusations against Jack threaten to tear Cameron and Sue's relationship apart as they argue over how to deal with the teenager, who in turn falls into Mary's arms. Cameron eventually turns to Polly for a sympathetic ear, while Anne decides to book a holiday to escape her problems.
